The sensor detects metallic objects (vehicles) that disturb the magnetic field of an induction loop. Thanks to its wide power range of 12 to 240V (both AC and DC), a single unit works across virtually any existing installation — reducing inventory complexity and simplifying procurement for installers working with varying voltage levels.
A key differentiator from standard loop detectors is EMX's exclusive Detect-On-Stop™ technology: the sensor only registers a vehicle once it has come to a complete stop on the loop. This prevents false detections from crossing or passing traffic — particularly relevant for narrow entries/exits or locations with heavy traffic movement around the loop. Setup and tuning are handled via the ULTRAMETER™ display, which shows the optimal sensitivity setting directly and makes interference (crosstalk/RFI) visible — valuable for on-site troubleshooting. With 10 sensitivity levels and 4 frequency settings, the detector can be fine-tuned to virtually any loop configuration, including smaller or non-standard loops.
The ULT-MVP-E provides two relay outputs: one for vehicle presence and a second configurable output (loop fault, pulse on entry/exit, or also Detect-On-Stop). Additional functions such as automatic sensitivity boost (ASB) and adjustable presence time make the detector suitable for more complex installations where stability and fast configuration matter.
Applications are primarily found at barriers, gate automation, parking systems, and access control for business parks, parking garages, and gated communities — wherever system integrators and installers need a robust, quickly configurable 1-channel solution.
