The BPE-50 is a thru-beam photoeye with an optionally battery-powered transmitter, meaning only one side of the installation needs wiring. That combines the accuracy of thru-beam detection with the installation ease of a one-sided connection.

A thru-beam photoeye generally offers the most accurate detection, but requires cabling to both sides of the roadway, which at some installations simply isn't feasible. A retroreflective photoeye solves the cabling problem, but trades away some of that accuracy in return. The BPE-50 offers a third path: a thru-beam photoeye whose transmitter can optionally run on batteries, preserving thru-beam accuracy without cabling to both sides.
By powering the transmitter with the included lithium batteries instead of a fixed power connection, only the receiver side needs to be wired. That combines the installation ease of a retroreflective solution with the more reliable, focused detection of a true thru-beam setup.
The included batteries have an expected lifespan of roughly two years, keeping maintenance down to periodic battery replacement rather than continuous power supply. For installations where the transmitter side is difficult to wire, that's a practical advantage.
The BPE-50 offers 90-degree adjustment, both left and right, simplifying positioning during installation. With a detection angle of ±5% and a response time under 30 milliseconds, the sensor also delivers a fast, precise response.
At just 112 x 52 x 33 mm, the BPE-50 is compact enough for installation at locations with limited mounting space, while its 15-metre range is more than sufficient for most standard gate and door applications.
Both the transmitter and receiver can also be connected to standard 12-24 VDC/AC power if desired, making the BPE-50 flexible: use the battery option where wiring is difficult, or hardwire both sides when that's more practical.
The BPE-50 is mainly used at gates and garage doors where cabling to one side of the installation would be difficult or costly, but where the accuracy of true thru-beam detection is still desired, for example at wider passages or locations with complex cable routing.
