The IRB-325 is a UL325-compliant thru-beam photoeye kit with powder-coated steel protective hoods, built for locations where extra physical protection against impact and environmental exposure is desired, such as industrial and agricultural installations.
Model: IRB-325
Type: Thru-beam infrared photoeye kit (transmitter + receiver)
Standard: UL325-2018 compliant, NC monitoring, Type B1 entrapment protection
Range: 2-20 m (6-65 ft)
Power supply: 12 VDC to 24 VAC, 150 mA
Relay contacts: 30V, 1A
Housing: NEMA 4X, UL/CSA Type 4/4X/3/3R/12/13
Protective hoods: powder-coated steel, against impact and environmental exposure
Operating temperature: -40°C to +77°C
Dimensions: 128 x 78 x 77 mm
Sensitivity: adjustable across 3 levels via jumpers
At industrial and rural installations, a photoeye is often exposed to more than just the weather: vehicles passing too close, materials being loaded and stacked, or tools accidentally striking the housing. A standard plastic photoeye housing doesn't always survive that kind of physical stress. The IRB-325 is fitted with powder-coated steel protective hoods, specifically to provide this extra physical protection on top of standard UL325-compliant safety detection.
The steel hoods protect against both environmental exposure and incidental contact damage from vehicles or other equipment. That makes the IRB-325 a suitable choice for locations where physical impact is a real risk, such as industrial sites, agricultural operations, or busy logistics environments, where a standard plastic photoeye would be more prone to damage.
The IRB-325 is UL325-2018 compliant for controllers requiring normally closed (NC) monitoring. That's a simpler, more focused monitoring method than the four or six protocols supported by the IRB-MON2 and IRB-RET2, making the IRB-325 a targeted choice specifically for NC-based control systems, without unnecessary complexity for projects that don't need broader protocol compatibility.
With an operating range up to 20 metres and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +77°C, the IRB-325 functions reliably in both extreme cold and sustained heat, relevant for outdoor locations with significant seasonal temperature swings.
Like the other thru-beam photoeyes in the range, the IRB-325 consists of a transmitter and receiver mounted opposite each other. The detection signal activates as soon as the infrared beam between them is interrupted, providing direct, reliable obstruction detection for the connected gate or door controller.
Alignment between transmitter and receiver is confirmed via two LED indicators on the receiver: with correct alignment, both red LEDs are off. Adjustable jumpers allow sensitivity to be set to three levels, helping optimise detection for specific installation conditions.
The IRB-325 is mainly used at industrial gates, agricultural operations, and logistics locations where both UL325-compliant safety detection and extra physical protection against impact and environmental exposure are desired, without needing multiple monitoring protocols.
