A garage door you can't control or check remotely is a daily hassle: wondering on the way whether the door is really closed, or having to physically check the garage. The iSmartGate MINI Garage Kit solves this by connecting an existing garage door opener to Wi-Fi, enabling remote control and status checks via smartphone.
The MINI controller connects to the existing garage door opener and links via Wi-Fi to the free iSmartGate app. From the app you can open and close the door remotely, and you'll get a notification whenever the door's status changes — handy for parcel deliveries or confirming the door actually closed after you left.
MINI is compatible with Google Home, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT, enabling voice control and simple automations such as automatically closing when leaving a set location. The kit can be expanded with a wireless tilt sensor, wireless contact sensor or wired contact sensor for extra reliable door status detection.
Under the hood, the MINI controller runs on a 64Mbit PSRAM / 16MB SPI Flash system and connects via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) with a 2401 MHz receiver frequency. It has 1 relay output for the door and 1 dry contact input for a wired sensor, and is powered via an included adapter (110-240V AC to 5V1A DC) — so a regular power outlet near the opener is required.
Applications are mainly single-family homes with one garage door where an affordable, straightforward entry-level solution is wanted — without the more advanced features (multiple doors, HomeKit, camera integration) of the PRO version.
