Some Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Craftsman and Raynor garage door openers with Security+2.0 technology (identifiable by a yellow learn button) aren't directly compatible with the iSmartGate. The Switch Adaptor bridges this gap and makes the iSmartGate compatible with these openers — a common compatibility point in North America, but also relevant for European installations with this type of opener.

Not every garage door opener is directly compatible with a smart controller. Chamberlain, LiftMaster, Craftsman and Raynor openers with Security+2.0 technology use a rolling code system that can't simply be driven by external equipment such as the iSmartGate.
The iSmartGate Switch Adaptor resolves this compatibility issue by sitting between the opener and the iSmartGate controller, so remote control still works reliably. Whether an opener uses this technology is easy to check: with Security+2.0, the learn button on the opener is yellow.
This compatibility issue mainly occurs with North American brands, but the same openers are also installed in Europe. Installers are therefore advised to check the learn-button colour before installing an iSmartGate kit, to avoid a return or reinstallation trip.
