The NIR-50-325 is a compact, UL325-compliant retroreflective photoeye, specifically configured for NC and 10K monitoring. Its small size makes the sensor suitable for tight mounting positions and simple upgrades of older installations.
Model: NIR-50-325
Type: Retroreflective infrared photoeye, compact
Standard: UL325-2018 compliant, NC and 10K monitoring, Type B1 entrapment protection

Not every installation has room for a large photoeye housing, or needs the full protocol breadth of a universal monitored photoeye. At tight mounting positions, or when simply upgrading an older, non-compliant installation to UL325 compliance, a compact, focused solution is often more practical. The NIR-50-325 is built exactly for this: a small retroreflective photoeye, specifically configured for NC and 10K monitoring.
At just 64 x 38 x 19 mm, the NIR-50-325 is considerably more compact than many other photoeyes in the range. That makes the sensor usable in locations with limited mounting space, such as narrow door frames or gate structures with restricted room for equipment.
Like the IRB-RET2, the NIR-50-325 uses a retroreflective principle, with transmitter and receiver together on one side and a reflector on the opposite side bouncing the beam back. Unlike the IRB-RET2's broader protocol support, the NIR-50-325 is specifically configured for normally closed (NC) and 10K resistive monitoring. That makes the sensor incompatible with controllers requiring only NO/COM (non-10K) monitoring, but a simple, focused choice for the common NC/10K applications.
The NIR-50-325 operates across a wide voltage range of 12-30 VDC or 24-30 VAC, and offers two LED indicators showing status directly during installation and alignment. A sensitivity control via an adjustable dial allows fine-tuning detection on site.
For controllers from before 2016, which often don't yet meet current UL325 standards, the NIR-50-325 is a practical upgrade option: its compact dimensions and simple NC/10K configuration make the sensor suitable for adding to an existing, older installation without major changes to the rest of the system.
The housing is IP66 rated, suitable for reliable operation in outdoor applications across varying weather conditions.
The NIR-50-325 is mainly used at overhead doors, gates, and barriers with tight mounting space, and at upgrade projects moving older, non-compliant installations to UL325-compliant NC/10K monitoring, without needing the broader (and more expensive) functionality of a universal photoeye.
