For free-exit applications at locations with a low-voltage supply — for example battery- or solar-powered barriers, or installations without access to 230V — EMX Industries' CS101-LV offers a magnetic motion detector specifically designed for low-voltage power: 9–41VDC or 6–29VAC.
The sensor detects vehicles at a distance of up to approximately 3.6 meters (12ft) at a minimum speed of 5 mph, via a waterproof sensing probe (432×25mm, PVC) installed alongside the lane. A DPDT relay provides flexible switching options for the gate or barrier controller, and the polycarbonate housing protects the electronics from the elements.
Because the CS101-LV doesn't require an induction loop, installation is simpler and faster than with traditional loop systems — relevant for free-exit applications where vehicles need to be able to leave a site from the inside without separate operator input.
The CS101-LV includes extensive surge protection (MOV, neon, and silicon protection devices), making the sensor extra resistant to voltage spikes in outdoor installations — relevant given the often limited or alternative power supply this low-voltage model is designed for. Green and red LED indicators show power status and detection respectively, simplifying on-site troubleshooting. The adjustable output hold time (0.5 to 6 seconds) and continuously adjustable sensitivity (high/low) give installers fine control over detection characteristics, tailored to the specific vehicle speed and type.
Typical applications include free-exit detection at barriers and gates in locations with limited or alternative power supply, such as solar-powered installations or temporary construction site access. The CS101-LV's wide voltage range also adds flexibility for backup power supplies and generator-fed installations.
